Tidewood Retreat.
We developed visuals for an eco-retreat village concept nestled within the Florida mangroves that reflect a biomimetic, low-impact design philosophy centered on floating architecture and ecological integration. This retreat includes a central hospitality hub with bar and lounge seating beneath a signature sculptural canopy, satellite guest pavilions with shell-like roof forms, a network of floating walkways and garden islets, and supporting amenities for paddleboarding, kayaking, and swimming directly from the retreat's decks.

The design concept was too complex and unconventional to convey through plans and descriptions alone, making it difficult to secure buy-in without visuals that could communicate the experience.
Designing for a mangrove estuary means building in a hydrologically sensitive, ecologically protected environment where conventional foundations, large footprints, and habitat disruption aren't options—while still delivering a resort-caliber guest experience that feels immersive rather than intrusive.

Solution

We developed photorealistic renderings that brought the floating pavilions, sculptural canopies, and mangrove integration to life, giving stakeholders an immersive sense of the guest experience and making the ecological design intent immediately legible.
The design responds with a fully floating and pile-supported structural system that keeps the mangrove root network and water flow undisturbed, paired with ribbed, tensile-inspired canopies that provide shade and shelter without heavy enclosed massing. Modular, discrete pavilions replace a single large structure, distributing load and visual impact across many small points of contact with the water, while connecting boardwalks and planted islets stitch the retreat together into one continuous, walkable landscape.
